26 Jun Employee Spotlight: Heather Penny
Heather Penny is a Customer Satisfaction Specialist and in one short year she has learned a lot of valuable knowledge that she will carry with her through her career. We took some time and interviewed Heather for our Employee Spotlight Series.
Hi Heather. What is your job title for Global Office Solutions and how long have you worked there?
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is working as a team with all departments. My job is to be the overlapping superglue between all the departments and work directly with the customers.
Wow. Sounds like fun! What is your favorite thing about your company?
My favorite thing about Global Office Solutions is having the opportunity to suggest new ideas and work on projects that I would normally not be given to me if I was working in a large company. The amount I have learned in the past year has been beneficial to my professional development. I hope to learn more everyday here at Global.
Where are you from, where did you attend college and what is your background in?
I am originally from Muskegon, Michigan and moved to Southeast Michigan for more job opportunities. I am new homeowner (Yay!) in Livonia, Michigan (Wayne County). I attended College at Western Michigan University where I acquired my B.B.A. in Management, Accounting, and Economics and I have a background in Communications and Project/Team Leadership.
Tell us a little about yourself. What do you like to do for fun? Any hidden talents?
On my spare time I like to be with my Fiancé, Family, and pets. I also enjoy working on perfecting my artistic skills. I am an amateur seamstress but my primary expertise is designing historical garments. I like to design my own work; none of my garments will ever be replicated. I am very passionate about volunteering with different historical preservation groups. I spend my winter holiday weekends volunteering as a historical tour guide at the museums in my home town. My hidden talents are most notably my musical abilities. I can play more than a dozen different instruments and before working at Global I was a professional private lesson tutor for beginning students. I performed with the West Michigan Concert Winds in 2008 but I have yet to find a community band in Southeast Michigan that I want to join.
What is your favorite memory from working at Global?
My most memorable moment was during my first week at Global and I come out to my car to find a deer just standing there next to my vehicle. The strange thing was that the deer was not afraid of me so I was able to get close enough to touch (but I never touched), it was cool!
